Getting started
How does signing up work?
Any child can create an account themselves with their name, email, and a passkey. Parents who want oversight can install the Outzy parent app, which adds approvals for friendships and play requests, blocks, custom family challenges, and a family audit log. The platform works whether parents are involved or not, but it's much better when they are.
Do parents have to install the parent app?
No, it's optional. Without it the child still has access to all the safety features, AI moderation, blocks, reports, no precise GPS. With it, parents add approval rights and visibility on top.
Do I need a password?
No. Outzy uses passkeys, Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN. There is no password field anywhere in the product.
Which devices and countries are supported?
iOS 16+ and Android 11+. The app and website are available in Dutch, English, German, French, and Spanish.
Safety
Can children chat freely with each other?
No. Communication between unrelated children is restricted to parent-approved templates tied to a specific play request.
How does AI moderation work?
Every user-submitted text passes through a safety classifier. Unsafe content is auto-blocked and surfaced for human review. Borderline content goes to a moderator queue. Safe content moves on instantly.
What happens when I block someone?
Existing friendships involving the blocked profile dissolve immediately. New friend requests in either direction are refused while the block stands.
Do you store my child's exact location?
Never. We store coarse neighbourhood cells (~1.2 km), not coordinates. Adults see neighbourhoods, not pins.
Account & billing
Can I really cancel any time?
Yes, one tap inside the app. Access continues to the end of the period you've already paid for.
What if I lose my passkey-bound device?
Email hello@outzy.app. We can re-issue a one-time link to bind a new passkey, after a manual identity check that's deliberately a little annoying.
How do I delete my account?
Inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete. Account data is removed within 90 days; safety-relevant audit logs are retained for 365 days, as documented in our privacy notice.
Outz currency
Is Outz real money?
No. Outz is an internal recognition unit. It cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred between accounts, or otherwise withdrawn.
Can children grind for unlimited Outz?
No. There is a hard daily cap per child (default 50 Outz). Time on the app earns nothing, only real-world challenges and attendance.
